Which is prefered for tweaking Nvidia cards.. Riva or NVhardpage 3.0
To put it honestly, since i have tthe latest drivres and have a much lder video card still than most these days, I was wondering which utility is better for tweaking Nvidia card controls? I have OC my card a bit in the past just for study mostly, to see what it would do without glitches or performance issues... and I am once again a curious sort.. and might try it again, since i now have a better CPU and the latest drivers.

I would go with coolbits/nvhardpage first. Rivatuner hasn't been update in a while, so it might not work right with newer driver sets.
Added ForceWare 84.xx and 87.xx driver families support.

Thanks.. for some reason the Coolbits is not compatible with NVhardpage. I went with the latter...
In all honesty, I don't really need to OC this card anyways.. just using the normal settings with a touch of AA and AF, and it runs and looks great in all games. Best it can be for such an older card.
If things turn out the way I expect .. I will be able to get that new Video card soon and then i won't have to worry about it...
While i got ya here responding .. what kind of a performance hit upwards can i expect when i get that 7900GS video card?? it will be my first PCIE type card also. Hope this board i have runs it alright.. others have them and have little problems... LOL

coolbits is already built into nvhardpage. it is just a registry change.
if you're not going to OC, then there is no point in installing coolbits, nvhardpage or RT.
going from a 5900 to a 7900GS should be a HUGE performance improvement.

Midknyte... your one of the select few Mods here ( if thats what you are.. nonetheless) , who I can count on to give precise even keel intelligent responses to the exact questions i ask.. I agree with what you said above.
No doubt a new video card of that magnitude would make a huge preformance hit,not to mention putting my video card aspirations to rest. LOL

I had a 5900XT a couple of years ago. moving to the 6800GT was a big jump, so the 7900GS is gonna be smokin'! From what I've seen, the OC pretty well too.

why the heck would he do it manually? nvhardpage and enable and disable it on the fly.

Scuse me. You made the statement that it was a registry change
"coolbits is already built into nvhardpage. it is just a registry change."
I just explained what the change was. Did not mean to wind you up.
