Here is some more on my continuing dilema of trying to do a clean install with another Fat32 OS as the main OS on my drive 'C
This will no doubt make me look extremely dumb...but I am serious as to what to do next in tryinhg to delete this partition uisng the XP pro install disk.
All of this started with myself trying to do a clean install and accidently installing another Fat32 on the same partition..without a format...
I have already gone over the things i did wrong and do understand the menu choices... but here is the problem:
previously today I tried to do a new install and must have halted the process somehow as now i have a " Microsoft Windows professional Setup" listed as one of my choices in the bootup screen...
Now..when i tried to make the choice of doing a partition wipe in the setup disk.. it said i could not delete the partition due to some setup files on that partition.
Boy....what a mindbend.... catch 22 or sorts...
I know that if these items could be found and deleted then I would be able to partiton it and at long last do a clean install ( wipe the disk ) and install the NTFS file system i wanted all along.
Otherwise i have a friend that can get into dos mode and do it form there ... ( supposed to drop by tomorrow I hope )
Already know about the different tools or utilitties listed in the foorum stickie so don't bother... but..if all else fails..then I suppose i could try burning one of these utitlity zip programs to disk and reboot... I am not at all comfortable with doing this. Call me dumb..confused or what have you.... but i would need help there also.
I have really tried all i know and only posted here as maybe I could still do this on my own if nobody around my area aides in my distress...
Thanks!![]()
