    Windows Media Player Codecs

I bought some training videos that are AVI files & they play fine on my home PC. However, my laptop for work only plays the audio and I get amessage at the bottom saying "error downloading codec". We are using Media Player 9 and aare not supposed to update anything on our own, so I try to stick with that to prevent other issues. Is there any kind of solution to get these to play without updating the whole Media Player.

if it's a work computer, talk to you IT guys. I wouldn't want you to get into trouble over it.

have them update you to WMP10 or try another player like VLC.

Jeeez, I swear I updated this earlier today. Anyway, our PC stuff is outsourced and they will not give us anything not "authorized". I checked the company software site & they listed Media player 7, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much. I tried another program and it's error code listed the missing codec so I tracked it down on the web, installed it,a nd all is fine now.

Thanks for the help Midknyte, I consider it a closed issue now.
