    decisions decisions

    i'm having trouble deciding between 2 cpu's..

    i can go with wither a p4 2.8ghz w/ 1mb cache or sempron 3300+

mainly going to be using it for internet applications, small site designing, ocassional use of photo and video editing, and lots of movies/mp3

what do all of you recommend?

I'd opt for the Sempron. Smaller cache but more efficient internal pipeline structure. It's a shame you can't go for a socket 939 insteda of the 754, though.

what are you trying to do? are you buying completely new motherboards or are you upgrading something? I wouldn't waste money on a 754. if anything, get a lower 939 board and chip as NTM stated.

939 is dual channel vs single channel ram. 939 can also support dual core cpus.

754 is going to be discontinued much earlier also.

Barb, if you can manage the switch to socket 939, you'll have a board that will provide an upgrade path when you outgrow the 3300+. AFAIK, AMD won't release any new devices beyond what is presently offered in socket 754.
