    HP Photosmart printer

I am considering buying a HP Photosmart 3310 multifunction printer. But it doesn't have a document feeder on the top like some business printers.

What exactly does a document feeder do? What are the benefits? Is it so you can load up lots of things to copy one after the other? How would that work with this PC?

the document feeder does just what you would expect. it can hold paper for multiple page scans, copies, faxes, etc. it's not meant to be used on photos or other detailed scanning.

If you're wanting to use it at home - you would probably only rarely ever use the document feeder anyway! Besides which, they're just another component to fail.

Personally I would stay well away from those multi-function devices unless I was truly strapped for space. If one part of it (scanner, printer or fax) ever falls over, the whole kit has to be returned - leaving you without the rest until satisfactorily repaired.

I hope you're also aware that HP print cartridges are NOT CHEAP.

I guess the real question is what do you want to do with it?
HP's new flagship photo printer is excellent. 4X6 photos in under 20 seconds, and it is faster printing normal pages than all but the fastest lasers.

Plus, it has 6 ink tanks...which means longer ink life versus just two tanks (one tri color, one either black or photo ink).

I love my 7760, but...two inks get expensive, and pictures take forever to print. They do print beautifully once done, though...

What is going to be the primary use for this printer?
