COD 2 Your thoughts on
I have ben playing this for about 2 days now and just for awhile.. not long and here are my takes on it.
Since I did play both the first one and the expansion United Offensive... I find the current edition to be quite a bit more complex and a bit more difficult ... but much improved and more of a sense of really fighting with your team or fellow soldiers for a cause.
Cinematically...it is more enhanced ..but still delivers the same COD style of play everyone likes. I guess the term would be more authentic looking and acting.
Very nice interface with nothing being changed so much from the original as to make some whine about controls and the like.
It plays decently on my last generation high end machine with a FX5900 card. I have it set to 1024 X768 and with 2X AA and 4X AF on... Just a tad bit slower than some of you with more updated high end systems can expect...but overall plays very well.
I am currently on the second full mission of Stalingrad where you have to search the houses in the city areas...

cant add much to your "review"
its great, graphics are awesome and like you seed it also feels like CoD 1 which i like!
the "fights" are much more intense and yes it is harder
some complained about the "reg health" and that you dont need med packs
but that doesnt make the game easy at all because it happens often that you are shot from different sided, one german rushes and your dead
finished the russian campaign, now on the 4th or 5th mission of the british
cant say much about MP yet, ill play SP first, but already in a "fun clan" with some very good friends of mine! we played CoD 1 together which was great fun and i think CoD 2 will rock even more

The graphics are gorgeous! Looks so real. it's a keeper, even if the campaign is a little short

I played it some more last night... Am real close to the last mission of the game.
After you play through this you do appreciate the great job they did with this. It is far more realistic than the first one...and yes the realism is pretty spectacular at timesas well as the graphics. Alot more panoramic looking.
The D-Day landing mission was real nicely done and I liked how they made THAT so realistic and very fun. Really made you feel as though you were really there.
For those who like shooters..believe me there are plenty of oppt'ys to hone yuor skills as they donot spare the enemies..and the AI is pretty darn good also. I esp.liked the human animation models...as they act and look alot more real.
The health system they use is a keeper also. As you play through the missions.. its easily seen that it works and keeps the realism there also.
Your going to need some skill to get through some areas...but since they did the interface so well...and itplays out so good.. you will only get better and better.
Plays flawlessly... At least a 4 1/2 Star game if not better.

i agree on everything except for the health, it sucks to be so real, and then have this lame regen system.
i so pretty yes i am... pretty pretty dancing

i like the health system how it is
specially in multiplayer!
i hate it when u you 1 HP and your enemy has 90 or so and you just know "this is useless, gonna die anyway"
in MP you have to kill your enemy straight away and chase him, if you shot him and hes "gone" hes back to full health
you still have a chance, i like that

I thought i was almost done with the game... and since i qwrotemy last post.. I have played another six or seven missions...
However said this was tooshort a game is nutso.. it is plenty long enough... first the russians ..then the British..then the Americans....back to the British... until you complete that ( four or five missions ), then the Americans again... Geeze..I can't say for surewhen its over...but I do think I am close now.
I am on the mission Taking Hill 40 in the third mission of that campaign... This mission is fun and requires some skill... sometimes i get mad evry so often because i want to just Kick booty and go forward..but they put a whole lot of enemies in the game and its like the germans have unlimited numbers... Just alot of shooting to hone your skills.
The game looks and plays great on my machine..but I think it would be even better with more updated specs and video card...like some of you guys and gals.
Actually I just stopped because i'm just plain tuckered out....
If in fact the health system did not work as great as it does...like something new to develope..then I might agree with some naysayers.., but it is flawless as far as I can tell. Nicely done. If you die you die.. if you are somewhat below helath that shows ..and if you are nearly dead..then you slow down like your dizzy or something. Running away from frags is done very well also...as you just have to scurry off or behind something or whatever and you go on.
I would have been nice if there was more to the tank campaigns as we all love to drive tanks..but those were short and sweet. ( and do they move..like sports cars )
How is MP GN??? Seems like you like that pretty good.

the mp for this game is awesome, it just like the first one... fast paced and lots of action always going on, the only complaint i have are the search and destroy games.. most of the the levels you can throw grenades into the enemy spawn right at the start so that kinda sucks but other than that the mp is rockin.

I'll have to check it out.... As good as i might seem I am in FPS games.. I find that playing MP in some of these games can seem a little intimidating at first go.
Ususally, i am pretty bad to start off ..but eventually after I get into the flow and familiar wiht the maps and fast pace...as this game is for sure.. I do OK...
A game like BF 1942 which is more deliberate and allows for more planning I seem to do better at.
United Offensive was kinda fun also....
COD series is definitely in a class of its own in the way it plays and feels. Quite a bit more on the hectic side.....fast and furious.
The game makers deserve a Game of the Year award for a game of this kind. LOL

Finished the game earlier this am... whew! The last two missions ( Americans ) were doosies. Very hard
The last misson in Road to HIll 40 was not easy.... If not for the time save points it might have been futile. Incredibly realistic..
One might go so far as to say you could get a case of karpal tunnel from pushing the trigger button. never seen so many Germans in a war game in my life.
Some piece of work..
After your through ...keep iit on for the credits as the cinematic is nice and the full score music at the very end of the credits is great music score. LOL

After just finishing Brothers in Arms and being wildly disappointed at the clunky game overall, the mediocre graphics, the inability to display the frantic pace of real war, and left needing much more at the end I am so relieved by COD 2. The game is just awesome visually. I like how I don't have to control teamates who don't listen to my commands, I love the effects, the pacing, the feeling of large scale battles, the grenade warnings, the sound effects and voices are great, the music is very cinematic. It is just a great game. The only problem I have is that there are many more buttons to remember and sometimes I have trouble in the heat of battle crouching, then going to sniper mode, then holding breath. I've been in situations where I have to do steps right after each other than in real life would be done instantly or quicker. I am also very relieved that I can play the game with most features on, 1280x1024 2XAA with no slowdown on a 6600GT. I was afraid of frame skipping. Great job so far, hopefully I am satisfied at the end, with COD1 I loved the game but wanted more because of its length.

This game plays out much longer than the first believe me. back and forth between British and Americans for instance.
You are lucky to have the VC i want to play it. You will be able to get better FPS ..but its very frantic and hard often times.. Listen to the clues ( posted in game ), as often they lead you to how to go on in the mission. Esp. in the Road to Hill 40 i could not figure out for the life of me what to do when they are rushing from all sides..but again the in-game clues tell you and the gold stars have to be completed.
I liked the save point style also ( time intervals ) after getting used to it... its hard at first because we all like to use our own save points.
Fantastic game overall.

that back and forth with british and amercian isnt true
you CAN do it that way but you dont have too
i saved at the landing mission, went in the menu and clicked on the british campaign and played the rest of the missions in france first
ok you shoudnt do it that way maybe, "hey we are british in "carentan" but there wasnt a landing yet" but i wanted to complete the campaign first
