I think its always a good idea to avoid any specific breeds like the plague. Same thing wif dogs too.
A mutt or moggy will have far less medical problems and are generaly much less mental than any line of pure'ish bred expensive ball of fluff with pins in it!

Not sure why I'm bothering to type this though, as you have a fetish for bizaro breeds with psycho (even for a cat) tendancies and expensive vet bills.
