    Win 98 mem probs

Just installed win98 on new PIII 450 with 128MB of PC100 RAM. Getting information that only have 40MB free using things like norton utilities. Tried Memturbo to see if it could free up more memory and it managed 64MB.
Typing "mem" in command prompt gave info that total memory =66MB, used =? and free =125MB.
Is it a problem with incorrect caching of memory? if so how do i solve prob.

I wouldn't worry about what norton says about availble memory. Windows memory management tends to goble up free menory to use as cashe but this should not slow down performance. If anything it speeds it up. This memory gets freed up as needed for applications. 40 meg free is plenty.

Not that you'll see much of a difference, but if you reduce the AGP aperature size in your BIOS, you can free up some memory for your apps. Try 32mb instead of 64mb. If you have no problems, experiment with different sizes.
