DVD IFO problem
I'm trying to convert DVD-RW content to .avi format, so that I can edit a movie (it's my friends wedding). The DVD disc was burnt by the camcorder itself and is mini-DVD-RW format.
I can play the disc no problem on both my PC (using DVD-RW drive) and on a DVD player connected to the TV. But... when I try to convert the DVD to .avi using any number of ripper tools, I get a message saying that the IFO is invalid. Could it be because the disc was not 'finalized'? I'm not even sure what this means, but it sounds good.

I assume you've tried DVD Decryptor if not you need to try it. Here's a link that walks you through the process of converting DVD to other video formats and links to the software needed to complete. The site is actually for converting content for playback on the new Sony PSP but I found it usefull in other areas as well. Here's another if the first doesn't help, this one is pretty complicated. It involves editing or recreating the .ifo files.
Good Luck!

Cheers! - I did try DVD Decryptor, but I'll walk through the links provided and see if I can't solve the problem.

VirtualDub can edit just the VOB files, no IFO file needed. Check out http://www.videohelp.com/ for DL's an tutorials. VirtualDub can also re-sync audio/video. If ur converting from DVD format to AVI watch out, it could take a LONG time.......
