POST Hangs
P4 3.0GHz Prescott
ASRock P4S61 Mobo (Sis 661)
512mb DDR400
System locks during early stages of POST (just after memory test) and displays the number 92 in the bottom right corner (I believe this signifies that the hard drive has been initialised). If the client resets the CMOS the PC starts up and runs without problems. At first he had to do this about once a week but now it's every time he starts up - is this just a flat CMOS battery?

That is a good place to start. They are only $1.00 in bulk.

hi there
i just had a problem similar to yours
and am not quite sure how to solve it.
post stops just after mem test. the
fault indicating LED's don't halt at this
step, but one further...when system bios
image file is paged into RAM for quick
boot.....
sometimes system boots after a reset or
after a restart by pulling the plug.
a few times i even could get the first
images from windows installation or
knoppix
could it really be the cmos battery?
P4 3.0 Prescott J
MSI 915P Combo-FR
2x 256 MB DDR400
when you tested that, sickboy, i would
appreciate if u posted the result in here.

Unfortunately we haven't been able to test the solution yet as the machine is not onsite here. We have despatched a replacement battery to our client and have heard nothing since so, no news is good news.
