Sharing via network.....please help
...hey guys, im trying to SHARE and add security in my folder/files/drive via my network.
heres what it looks like now:
Shared:
X: Drive (everyone has permission to view it)
X:\Folder1 (only certain logon name *my name and admin* can view this folder)
now, my problem is... the sharing and permission works within my computer.
BUT i want my Wireless laptop to view FOLDER1..... i tried going thru adding a sharing and permission but i have no success. (cant browse thru network computer name)
i tried "AUTHENTICATED USER" and ANONYMOUS LOGON but still access denied if i access it thru laptop.
BUT when i try adding "NETWORK"...... it works, but im guessing everyone in my network can access FOLDER1. and i dont want everyone in my network to view it....i just want my laptop
is there anyway that i can make it so that-----either only my laptop in my network can access it.....or if other computer from my network access it, they have to put a password?

permissions are set by user, not computer. you need to set your user account permissions for that folder.
there is no password input method. all access is controlled by your authentication token.

these are good sites for basic networking. I don't like reinventing the wheel.
