Can anyone explain the difference between Amd Athlon 64's and Semperons?

Am I better buying an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester core (939)
or a semperon of similar spec?

Don't get a sempron. They are meant to compete with Celerons.

Thanks Midknyte for a fast and clear reply.

I think I will stick with the
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester core (939)

On a ASUS A8V Deluxe mobo

I know this is not the correct part of the forum but could you recommend any particular DDR 400 ram to go with this please?

    I am running 3dsMax 7, Solidworks 2004,and Photoshop CS
    primairaly.

    Thanks again.

You can search the MB or General forum about ram recommendations.

I like Crucial Ballistix, OCZ, Corsair, GEIL. I've been hearing good things about Patriot, but I haven't seen any up close.

If you don't plan to OC, then you can get cheaper stuff.

    Thanks again Midknyte.

I have and will continue to search the forums for recomendations.

I dont actually intend to OC intially until I see how my system will perform with the listed software.

This is an awsome site and everyone is so cool and knowlegable.

    Respect guys and gals.

    Thanks.
