connection two switches

Hello everyone,

I have a quick query tingling my brain, would like to hear if it is possible or not or if anyone has done such thing before

i have two switches of 100M, each of them connected to 16 computers running full network load. i would like to connect both of these switches together and the only option i have to is to use 100M cross cable how ever the bandwidth of 100M is not enough. So i was guessing if it would be possible to use a two cross cable and connect two ports on each switch together to attain a bandwidth of 200M

No, you would still only get 100Mbyte bandwidth.

Upgrade to a Gigabyte switch and wireing.

What is the advantage of port trunking?
PUREDATA’s PDC8023UAS-16 is a sixteen port switch with 4 port trunking capability. When two switches are uplinked together, the normal bandwidth is around 200Mbps in full duplex mode. With 4 port trunking, the total bandwidth increases to 800 Mbps in full duplex mode.

i dont know if this will help, if you are running 10/100 BaseT the pins that are used in the switch 1-2-3-6 1&2 for Tx and 3&6 for Rx and in Auto MDIx it's "auto detect". By using the GigaEthernet the four pairs will be used 2 pairs for Tx and 2 pairs for Rx, i would suggest that if your planning to set-up an GigaEthernet Solution a 10/100/1000 Switch and NIC is necessary.
