Just watched it. Seems like fun. But then again might be again like DOOM3. Yet, I still have hope that they tweaked the gameplay to be a bit more fast.

By the way trailer shows off ID's version of gravity gun.

    You beat me to it..Vitalka

I think alot of people are going to be more impressed than they think when this comes out.

From the reviews I just read ( your link ), This might be even better than the original D3, if not a very worthy expansion.

As of now, it is slated for April 5th coming to retailers...

I know that this is one of the games I am going to snatch up right away...

    It's a preview, not a review.

I am getting it regardless of the reviews..but since I thought the first game was good....no need to feel like they ID would make a piece of doggy pooh.

The description of some of the new elements and all the rest had me convinced.

Wonder how much they are going to charge for this?

Since it is an add on and really not anerw game in itself, I would think the price to be around $30.00 US

After my profane dissapointment with D3, I pledged to never purchase another ID product again. Fool me once, your fault. Fool me twice, my fault.

You can roll your eyes at him and myself for all I care. Doom 3 was the most overhyped expletative released in ages. All reviews BEFORE release were saying how great it was. A couple months after and the community chimed in, those same sites were now feeling that they had better cover their behinds and start harping on all those bad things that they forgot to mention in the review that caused people to buy it in the first place.

Then they started complaining about the dumb as a brick AI, the highly scripted nature of the AI, the **** poor lighting covering up for **** poor gameplay in followup reviews or when giving out "awards." Gamespot was bloody obvious with this. The I'm right behind you spawning or disappearing wall that is filled with enemies that just happens to drop soon as your back is turned. There was no real gameplay. It consisted of running around shooting enemies with weapons that were poorly thought out in an enviroment that looked good, yes, but was it good. No. It wasn't interactive in the least bit. FarCry, Chronicles of Riddick, and HL2 (which I am not a big fan of) impressed me a helluva lot more gameplay wise and in some instances graphically than Doom 3. I'm not buying another ID product again either - at least not until it has been out for several months now that I know that EVERY game review site isn't worth the time to load when it comes to large companies. I had thought there was at least some honesty left in a couple sites, apparently there wasn't.

So now I'm going to wait on this one and any others. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Look at ID's track record for single player games. While they all sell good - look at the gameplay itself. Generally it isn't good. Quake 2 and below got away with this as gaming was still in it's infancy in many ways in the first person genre. Now it isn't. Before all it took for a good title was some decent gameplay and good graphics. Now for a good title it takes good gameplay, not just decent - and that isn't ID's forte as of yet.

Now that I've griped about the utter garbage gameplay wise ID released, let me say that I do hope that this is an EXTREME departure from how they handled things in Doom 3. I want them to produce a great game as then I can play it. D3 would have been an excellent game IMO without that spawning **** they spewed out. Even with it's other noticeable downsides in how the weapons handle and the AI overall - it would have been a pretty darn good game. For instance, I was able to look past HL2's abysmal weapon implementation. My favorite weapon in HL2 was a pistol because it was infintely accurate at any range, and all you need is a headshot. But because the gameplay was good (grav gun aside, that was awesome) I was able to overlook that downside considerably. I can't look past anything in D3 because it annoyed me instead of entertained me. I hope that add-on is worth me buying - only time will tell.

I've learned my lesson with Halo, when i grabed it the first day it cam out. I waited a month before i bought DOOM3. And i don't consider it a bad game not the best too. it hangs some where in the middle. I don't get games anymore just because the review was good. I wait, play it at my friend's, or play a demo. So yes i'll be rolling my eyes, since I past that stage where i follow the crowd.

The graphics engine in D3 was pretty good, but way way way too dark to really get good gameplay out of it, and yes, 99% of the game was scripted and not AI. I still liked it, but i never played it again after i beat it. Also what game makers have to think about is weapons designe and the way it handles. And they must definatly get away from the scripted monsters/enemies and go full on AI like in farcry where you had to use good tactics to get through the game and no just learning where the enimies are and spraying just as they spawn. Also, the game must have good appeal to the eye, cuz heaven forbid you should look at a game and play it. HL2 wasnt as good as it was hyped to be, but it was still a good game that was fun to do it again.

    SomeoneStupid....

I know your not stupid... and you explain your feeling very well.

For what D3 brought to the table as far as fear and some other elements...I just thought it merited something in a cartegory all to itself....

An example of a new game coming out that I will not miss out on is the game F.E.A.R. which by the looks of the leements and ideas ...is taken right from this same script.
Case in point...the idea and some of the viusals and the way they did them have others tryign to ccome up with the same.

I also cannot agree tthat ID has **** for games..as they do as good a job as anybody and have come out with some really good games that have stood the test of time.

How about Castle Wolfenstein ? It was a breakout game and still one of the very best ever made.

RtCW used their engine, but it wasn't truly an iD game. They had an outside dev house handle it, and that was a smart move, as it was an excellent game.

Doom 3 was too long for it's content. It took forever to run into different types of enemies, and then when you did, that was all you ran into (well imps were always prevalent). The lack of any real scene changes also just added to that dragged out feeling. It just wasn't my type of game.

I think it was beautiful graphically and performed great - just it suffered from iD's usual poor implementation that they no longer could escape because their own technology surpassed their level building skills.

I can still go back and play Quake and Quake 2 and enjoy it. They had some innovation in each (granted there wasn't much out at the time) and they just fit together better in terms of how everything worked out for gameplay. Even if I count graphics, Quake and Quake 2 come out ahead of Doom 3 for one reason - gameplay (and Q & Q2 weren't known for their gameplay).
