If I recall correctly it was because people were putting pictures in their signature, and it made it so you had to scroll for 3 hours to see 10 responses

Was like that at another forum. HUGE images that killed my dialup (I may be awitching to DSL soon) and took a LOAD of scrolling. I think we should have sigs w/ text only, regular size, and only a couple lines.

well Steve , if vbulletin is really goin to be updated please don't use any of those stupid skin packs that come with it.
At "most sites" where they have vbulletin (> 3.0).....the skins are the main reason for slow loadin of forums.
Also i am on dialup.....

A couple of other computer-related sites that I'm a member of use vB and have text-only sigs. The ones that allow too much by way of pics get very distracting. One thing I hope could be implemented would be that a users' sig would only be visible once in any given thread. That way when 2-3 people go back and forth on an issue, it would be left easily readible. IDK if that's possible, though.

There never have been sigs here. Not in the last five and a half years anyway.

Oh yeah, please NO SKINS! They are annoying as heck and mock my dialup. Also I find them very distracting. Would be great if the layout/color scheme was left as-is. Just my 2 cents

A VW forum that I frequent uses a signature on the first post per user per page only, and allows small pics, with total size limit.
It is highly distracting even with broadband to wade through some people BS sig's.

Mr Steve,
What they said - and while we are begging, how about author icon size limits - 120 x 120 or a little bigger would be nice too.
