Problem installing MySQL on Windows XP

I'm trying to install MySQL on my computer and after configuring everything using the configuration wizard, MySQL cannot be initialized and I get "Error: 0". Can someone tell me what could be wrong? Thanks.

    And this:

Although that only seems to apply if you've previously had MySQL installed.

Thanks guys. It was the Windows firewall (even though it is off! )

    One more question...
I installed MySQL because I want to try to write a C program that will use a database. Maybe a name/phone thing just to get me started. The database will be accessed only from the program running on my computer, so do I need to enable TCP connection? Thanks.

No, you don't need to enable outside connections via TCP/IP for local connections...it's how you get the new viruses though! If you want that, I suggest it! Haha.
