    350Watt enough for my system?

    Hola~

    Current system specs:

    Asus A7n8x Deluxe
    AthlonXP 2800@3200
    2x 256DDR Corsair 3200
    Lite-On CDRW
    Generic 8x DVD
2x 36Gig Raptors (raid 0, if that matters)
    GF Ti4400
X-4090 Nexus 400 Watt Quiet Power

So, the nexus has started making more noise lately. Strange, who knows, I may have gotten a defective unit.

I got an Antec sl350s with my SLK3700BQE case. Would a 350W be ok in my system? My concerns are 1. overclocking sucks up the juice. 2. Dual 10k rpm drives running.

Can the 350W handle it? Any risks with a test? I'd hate to screw up the drives...
    TIA
    Fin

My specs are very similat to yours

    A7N8X-E DLX
    XP2500@3200
    120GB SATA drive
    40 GB PATA drive
    NEC 3500A DV-Cutter
    16X DVD rom
    2X512MB ram
    Ti4400
    TV decoder card

and I upped my PSU to an Antec 450W because I was getting crashes with a 350W PSU.

I also have 2 intake and one outake fans.

It really is alot to do with the quality of the PSU thats why I got an Antec..you get what you pay for.

If the specs on the Nexus PSU are good then I'd think it was fine, power wise but those twin Raptors are sucking a fair amount of power especially as you have them on RAID 0 so they'll very likely never power off like my second spare drive I have in my computer when it's not in use.

I think I'm going to RMA the Nexus and try another, it's the quietest PS I've had so far and I'm hoping it's just a bad unit.

It started off super quiet and just the other day it doubled in noise. strange. still under warranty

    Thanks for response.

Chances are it will run ok, but I personally would only use it as a temporary unit if this was my main rig. As you mentioned, dual 10k drives can suck up a significan amount of power. If it wasn't for them, i'd say the 350watter would be just fine.
