    delete desktop icons, quick launch icons go too

    what can cause the quick launch icons to be removed when i delete their desktop counterparts?

    The quick launch icons could have been shortcuts of the Desktop icons. Thus, since you are removing the target, it could be removing the shortcut as well. Just a thought.
