    ProgramFilesDir

Has anyone noticed with XP Pro SP2 if you go into the registry and set the ProgramFilesDir (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > ProgramFilesDir & ProgramFilesPath) to "D" and re-boot Outlook Express does not open? All of the other apps work -- just OE doesn't?

It is not a bug. The DLL files for Outlook Express are registered DLL's. You can get outlook to work by reregistering the DLL files.

Start by going to D:\Program Files\Outlook Express.

There are several DLL files in the directory.

Simply Click start, hit run, type
    REGSVR32 "D:\Program Files\Outlook Express\DLLNAME.DLL"
for every dll in the directory.

    Next type
    REGSVR32 "D:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Wab32.dll"

    Edit]
I missed One DLL. You also must register:
    REGSVR32 "D:\Program Files\Common Files\System\DIRECTDB.DLL"

    Outlook Express should run again

Thanks rraehal, that worked. You have to copy Wab32.dll and DIRECTDB.DLL from C:\Program Files\Common Files\System to D:\Program Files\Common Files\System first though (they were not there by default).

And as for it being a "bug" with SP2, it doesn't work with Windows 2000 Pro SP4 either.

I do not use OE so I never knew it didn't work after making the registry change.

    Thanks again!

    Glad it worked for you.

You may be missing the WAB32RES.DLL since they did not get moved by default. It also resides in Common Files\System. I am not sure which functions it provides.

It was there but doesn't need to be registered for OE to work.

    Thanks again!
