    How come....

After playing a game or leaving the computer on with a program running for awhile the computer slows down?

When I'm playing a game, then I quit and go back to Windows, the computer slows down for awhile....

Is it because the RAM needs to be cleared? Anybody know?

Depends on how much ram you have, background processes like an antivirus which you don't need while playing a game or too many background processes running all the time.

I know some programs that just hog a bunch of RAM and don't let go until you quit them. Maybe it takes Windows time to free it? Being a programmer I know about memory leaks...but I'm not sure it would be a cause for system slowdown. Just a thought.

    Live by it: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

    I have 512 MB pc3200 of RAM.

When I'm playing a game like Half-Life 2 and quit to Windows, it takes awhile, and even then after that, the PC gets slow and takes like 15 seconds to get back to its original speed.

Same problem here with Deus Ex 1, the music will keep on playing even after the game is closed for about 15 seconds. Memory leaks, nothing really major to worry about.
