Fan Switch
Hey hey all,
Ive currently got a 120mm fan at the back and a 92mm fan at the front of my case.
This provides good ventalation but my god is the 120mm noisy!
So i was think of putting and switch inbetween the fan and the PSU (the fan is a 4 pin PSU jobbie). Would this be okay to do?
So i can just switch the fan on and off when i need it rather then taking my computer out and disconnecting teh fan very time i want silent running.
Many thanks in advance!!

I suppose you could do this, but, you'd want to monitor your temps to be sure it's cooling enough on the one fan. You might also want to look around for a kit that will control the fan speed instead of a simple on/off switch. I have a fan controller for my 4 case fans that has a variable rheostat for each fan and allows me to adjust the speed ( and noise level ) of each fan independantly. You might want to take a look at Newegg and see if there is something there that suits your needs.
Better yet would be a variable rheostat to cut the fan speed down. It will be substantially quieter, but should still cool well.

If your good at taking out molexes a cheap way is to swtich the 12 volt to the 5 volt. Youll get below 20 db noise if its a 120x25mm
Also if the back of the case has a restrictive fan grill it will cause alot of noise . If you dare cut it out - it will cut down on some noise.
