I'm pretty much the only die-hard Mac user here.
But here's how I look at it:
Mac Advantages:
•Ease-of-use; simplicity (simplicity does not equal "limited")
•Security (admin password required for installs, root access required to delete sensitive system files, etc.)
•Very tight integration between hardware and software (fans speeding up or down with OS needs, for instance)
•Outstanding hardware quality and inovative design
•Home "entertainment" software (iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, etc.)
•UNIX based; semi-open source OS leads to rapid OS improvements (Apple has released several versions of OS X in the time Windows XP has been stagnating in the market)
Mac Disadvantages
•Business software (some business apps like MS Office and FileMaker, but lacking in critical need applications; there's always Virtual PC, right?)
•Gaming software (most major games come out after the PC version, but they do come out)
•That freaking one-button mouse
•You can't build your own Mac from the ground up like a PC
•Small premium in head-to-head cost comparison with equivalent PC
•No low-cost headless computer
PC Advantages
•Widespread use and familiarity
•Widespread software selection
•Commoditized equipment (cases, fans, processors, etc.)
•You can build your own PC from the ground up
PC Disadvantages
•Horrible security (and Microsoft is NOT helping!)
•Honky interface (this alone could break out into several bullet points)
•Increased complexity in compatibility due to the large software / hardware pool
So there it is. If you want to argue, I'm up for it. I'm not an Apple zealot, I'm just a Mac fan who doesn't want to see Apple's market share slide on account of ignorant people who think Macs are worthless; Mireland should know what I'm talking about . It all comes down to software availability and personal preference.
I'd also like to mention that me and my dad are starting a new pet kennel business and am spec'ing out Macs for everything from point-of-sale iMac G5s to a Power Mac G5 video surveillance server. In my research, there were no compelling reasons I shouldn't run a Mac.
By the way, there are PowerPC version of Linux that run on the Mac, so the poll choices are not categorically inaccurate.

If we are strictly talking about the OS and not the platform in general, take a look at XvsXP.com.
BTW, if you think the Mac is the same machine you used in middle school, you are in for a very pleasant surprise if you visit an Apple store today.

I failed to mention Windows XP Service Pack 2 as a disadvantage of the PC platform. I am really hating that freaking update.

I agree the Windows SP 2 sucks. I hate it when it stops me from downloading anything.

horrible security for PC? that's just nonsense, the hardware architecture doesn't determine security.
