By the way, WinPatrol is a really handy way to remove browser extensions and disable Startup apps. It also shows you where the programs are loading from and who published them.

I'm thinking of making this app standard for all SysOpt members. There *will* be a 10-question quiz!

    Midknyte,

It seems that the link for "Super Pi" isn't working. I was able to find this URL which offers a download of it, perhaps the link could be updated?

Yeah.. I personally commend you guys for taking the time and putting up those helpful links .so that others may share these also....

I know, because i have read and listened to some of the many good answers and resource links posted here at SysOpt ,that over a period of time , I have taken back more control of my computer and learned alot... and need to learn alot more.

Now..if i can just begin to type better ,without having to re-edit everything I write....

G....I did load the Kapersky personal Pro 5.0 ....and can see its a good program..... have had it running and setup for all the fucntions it offers... Nice program....

One thig about it though is that I think it does some other blockign, that often does not allow for my Mozilla to work as effectively... maybe due to blocking active X controls... which is a big pain in rear to analyze how to set...and often you have to uncheck the real time monitoring as it blocks you from some stuff like opening pages beyond...

I do have another really good program I use called Spyware Doctor, and it is a nicely designed and running utility for allowing total control of your internet and cookies... nice interface and easy to use..and it does not seem to interfere with anything else.

Its been so long ago ,I 'm not sure all that we discussed ,but I still have our messages in the sysopt personal file.

Basicly, its like this. I have so much stuff loaded into my system ,that it is amazing it runs as good as it does, considering I am not as knowledgable as some of you.
All in all, my system runs very well..and i constantly do checks and run my programs and deal with stuff as it comes up..but lately nothing major... Just have learned how not to mess things up so much as in the past.
I keep telling myself, upon occasional slowness...( again, nothing major, just a users intuition )

Another thing is, most everything that goes on has osmething ot do with the registry..and sys32 file in yur windows,so that is always a clue and alot of good programs out check and analyze these things and when they work , life is much easier, esp. for people like myself, who rely on others good faith programs to work correctly.

    How are things with you?

You asked for my advice on Kaspersky but also on tightening up your defences, which I did.

KAV has a powerful anti-script blocker and this may be where your problem lies. I will try to have a look for you today and see if I can find a fix option workaround.

Incidentally Rabbit it is always nice to get acknowledgement.

I just noticed that you are using KAV Pro and not the Personal version that explicitly recommended for the very reason you are now experiencing.

KAV Pro is not necessary for you.

Go back to the Personal version and see how you get on. If you have purchases the Pro version I will see what I can come up with.

Kaspersky is still the best AV program around.

    Thanks G

I just try to acknowledge those who show others some respect..

As you know in these wide open forums you get all kinds.... and while I am a funny and gregarious person in life.. I am actually very serious when it comes to technical things....

Yes.... Kapersky seems to be a real nice AV program and they did a nice job with the interface and menus also...
