I have an XP Pro PC with a USRobotics 9003 router/modem between the PC and an ADSL connection.
How do I grant access to two separate friends PCs to play on a game hosted on my PC?
The USR router seems to have a very efficient firewall (Shields Up! confirms Stealth Mode) and when my two mates enter my IP address their PCs can't find my PC.
The router manual is basic and not much help beyond setting up. I can access the router's setup pages via the browser and the router's IP address.
Is there a way to tell the router not to block particular IP addresses and if so where do I enter them or is the router's firewall being too harsh and I need to step it back a little?
In the routers configuration, you need to either open the ports needed by the game or forward the ports to your internal IP (e.g. 192.168.xxx...) . You give them your external IP (e.g. 24.166.xxx...) .
I know my static IP address and I know my friend's one; in the attached image is mine the Src IP and his theDest IP?
In the image I can see the table on the left is trying to help but I dunno if the game is DNS, HTTP etc. Are there just standard entries for the other boxes?
