PC slow loading
A clients Windows XP PC has become very slow loading the Taskbar & allowing use of the programs after logging on
Looking on the Taskbar I found an Icon for "Pervasive SQL 2000 Workstation", i was able to right click & stop this engine which improved things but I was unable to remove it or find any program on the PC that was related to it ie/ I did a search & looked in Add/ Remove programs also looked at the Programs.
Has anyone any idea how I can get rid of this as it was probably downloaded inadvertently I think
Thanks

start -> run -> msconfig
Go to the startup tab, and untick the things that are starting up which you don't want.

I haven't yet tried this on my clients PC but on my own PC I just deselected CCAPP.Exe in the startup tab - When I rebooted the System Configuration Utility window opened saying the System Configuration Utility is currently in Diagnostic or selective startup mode

that is a standard message when you change anything with msconfig. CCAPP is related to norton antivirus. leave it enabled.

did you scan for spyware and viruses?

Thanks - I've re-enabled that but will try to disable "Pervasive Database SQL 2000 Workstation" on my Clients startup
Ran both Adaware & Spybot until they ran without errors, only DSO Exploit left on Spybot but thats ok anyway I'm led to believe

DSO exploit is always left behind by spybot. it's just a quirk. you're fine.
I thought you already disabled the SQL client. SQL services usually take high priority, which would definitely contribute to your slowness.
