E Commerce, Visa MC etc.
I will soon be looking to take credit card payments on my website.
Just a small hobby webpage, but the local interest in the product is growing.
Does anyone have a favorite E commerce software pkg ?
I was told about one called Solaris ( I think)
Anyone know about this ?
Also,
Is there one that I should avoid ?
Thanks

how much business are you looking at doing?
i worked for my fiance's dad a few months ago and they used paypal's shopping cart. all you need is a paypal account and you can set it up. they take a percent of the sale (just like any other credit card company) and with verisign it looked like there was a setup fee and a monthly fee. seemed kind of expensive for a smaller business.
you can go to www.formalwearoutlet.com and add some items to the shopping cart and see how it works. it's also pretty simple to setup. the customers can use their paypal account, or pay with credit card without a paypal account.
if you have any questions let me know. this is the way i would go.

Thanks people,
I do about $2000 /mo, not a lot, but OK for a hobby.
I do a lot of purchasing through Paypal, and I did make the account arrangements to accept credit card payments, I did one last week, Paypal took $9 of the $300 credit card payment, not bad, but of course the customer has to be a member too.

well if you use the shopping cart i'm talking about they don't have to be a member
there is an option to pay with credit card only

"don't have to be a member" ? I'll definitely look into that.
Thanks
