3dfx graphics card
I have installed a 3dfx graphics card in my computer. I have put the drivers in and all I get is a distorted picture, ie hundreds of horizontal lines that make the screen appear to have overlaid pictures of the desktop.
3dfx are no longer providing technical help for this product.
Any ideas please?
hmm, well you could try safe mode and lower the screen resolution, and see if that makes a differance.
you should be able to go to downloads .com. sorry, drivers.com and d/l the right drivers for the card. (it would be way back in the archives)
and lastly( if thats a word) you dont happen to have an onbord graphics array, and are trying to run the 3Dfx card? cause I dont think that works well.
hope ya get it figured. ward.
Change the video driver to Standard VGA first - always. Then install your drivers.
Not sure if this is what you mean Bill but I have installed the windows driver for a standard monitor 600 x 800 and dumped the specific driver for my monitor and now it has settled down.
Would I change to standard VGA in the BIOS?
Most graphics cards instructions specify that you change the video driver to Standard VGA before loading the new drivers. Did you do that?
It sounds like your refresh rate was set too low or too high for your monitor.
Stark Raving MOD
You'd change to Standard VGA in Device Manager (Start->Control Panel->System). Exactly which kind of card is this? 3dfx were bought out by nVidia years ago, but my friend has found a good driver for his Voodoo 5 5500 at Windows Update. Normally you try not to use dirvers offered there, but in this case they're quite handy.
