Spybot Comes with Spyware???
Hey, i was just wondering, i ran Pestpatrol and some how it picked up a trojan installer within the spybot directory. I've read at some places that download.com has coupled some programs with spyware..
is it true?
Oh yea, the file is like dummy_cd.clint.dll

Spybot stores deactivated spyware in it's own directory so that you can undo it if you must.
The answer is no - Spybot has no spyware.

isn't cd.clint.dll related to a hack of kazaa?

Yes, Kazaa won't work without the spyware so the Kazaalite people substituted a dummy (cd.clint.dll) to trick Kazaa into thinking that it's spyware was still installed.
It used to show up on spyware scans but the spyware apps, like Spybot are all aware of it now so it is no longer selected or removed.

In the past when I installed Ad-Aware and then installed Spybot, the Spybot install detected Ad-Aware and indictaed that the other scan program can report Spyware in the Spybot directories because of the backups.
If you deleted the back-ups from Spybot, Pest Patrol should not detect spyware in the Spybot directory.
