Is it just me and the fact i couldnt stand the original, or do the two or three in-game shots actually nto look that great?

The in game shots look bad, but they look like they were taken with a fuzzy camera.

Not just you. Halo introduced arguably the best graphics in console history. Console graphics compare to PC graphics like a Cessna compares to a 707.
I am biased since I believed the Halo Hype and got the PC version when it came out. the only word in the english language capable of describing my experience rhymes with trap.

I'd rate Daikatana as a better game than the original Halo, and yes, i do own both

Halo really didn't impress me all that much. It was only grabbed as it was for a 20 as it was opened already (I wasn't paying 34.99 they were asking for an opened - or one of the unopened boxes for a game I've played already). It passed some time and was better than Doom 3 IMO (I don't own Daikatana so I can't say on that one ).

That wouldn't take much. That game left me PO'd from the first. I felt like I had been ripped off the first time I played it. Now I know I was ripped off. Allot of people are still impressed with Doom 3 though. I think it just isn't my kind of game.
The last time I bought a game that was as disappointing as Doom 3 was BF 1942. It was also overhyped and I bought it as soon as I could get my paws on it.
Halo is ok, at least as OK as the other 2 I mentioned but I got it CHEAP which in my opinion makes it more OK than the others.
One thing for sure, I won't be buying HL2 on hype. I am going to wait and read some players reviews first, maybe find someone that has it so I can try it out.
