I had an extra 80GB seagte PATA 7200 drive. I Also happen to have $100+ of heatsinks, fans, thermal paste, thermal tape, AS4&5
The normal temps of this this drive used to be around 42-45. This got me thinking why not try and reduce the temps? I used 3 heatsinks without any fan and some thermal tape.
I stuck the 3 heatsinks onto the harddrive using thermal tape. This made the drive real heavy.
2 of the heatsinks were of Coolmasters the other was a generic brand.
The results were pretty good. After after installing the heatsinks tems have gone down a bit. Now the temps stay between 34-36C. Nothing more.
