    ZoneAlarm is garbage

After using this program for a while, I noticed that Ebay does not search properly, it constantly has problem's allowing me to view .gif animation's even though I turned the option 'off' to block them. CNN doesnt display properly and a slew of other problem's, also the add-blocker is not that great.

Is there any other good ones out there better than Norton Internet Security?

Sygate's free personal firewall has served me well:

http://eu.download.kerio.com/dwn/kpf/kpf2-en-win.exe is a very good packet filter but replace the default rules with http://www.dslreports.com/forum/rema...3708~mode=flat . You can then set up the rules the way you want. The Proxomitron with JD5000 configs is about the best pop-up/add and anything else you want to prevent on a web page app there is.http://www.jd5000.net/

The 2 combined are very light on system resources and very effective.

    Tis true.

    Agnitum Outpost
    Sygate Personal Firewall
    or Kerio

are the best IMHO, ZA is bad, and has been for a long time as far as im concerned.

I never had much of a problem with ZA. It's a little bloated, but does the job for your basic "standalone PC connected to the Internet" and has a decent GUI for people who aren't confident enough to tweak stuff manually

ZoneAlarm was decent before the kiddie-fiddler layout that came about a few years ago. Swapped (is it swapped or swopped?) to SPF a while ago and have never had any trouble with it.

I'm on bb now and all is grand

I looked at those and it look's pretty involved as to setting everything up manually but if im bored some day I might give it a shot. Ill try out sygate or agnitum. Anyone better than the other or are they both pretty good?

Sygate is very...very easy to set up.

You can make it very complicated...fine tune it...or just leave as is.

    it works...plain and simple...

I have no problems with ZA, I just had to turn off their ad-block feature as it was conflicting with the browser. I did like ZA 4 over their new version 5, as it interfered less, but I guess it's all good now.

I have been using Sygate and I really like it. But it doesnt have ad-blocking, and I hate ad's. Im used to seeing virtually no ads because im so used to norton.

    agnitum has ad blocking
So I will give this a try. Wait it looks like this one only has a 30-day free trail period.

You must have installed professional version trial.

The personal version I'm using (5.5) has,is and will be free...

Yeah, no add blocking, but...use Firefox...
