    Setting up a print server

I hhave a Hawking print server on my home network and with only a 2 meg buffer it really slows down printing. At a computer show I saw some pentium 233 PCs for $45. I was thinking of buying one and setting up a print server, but have a couple questions. Would an old PC like thi be able to run XP? I know I'd probably have to get a larger drive and I have old memory so I could beef it up a little. Is there any special software I would need or would I just put the PC on the network and set up the drive as a shared drive?

Any links with info would be appreciated.

    Thanks

you don't need to run winxp on the print server unless you wanted to specify permissions. win98se would be just fine. you probably could run xp, but it would be pretty slow. 233 is the minimum cpu, but you would need 64mb ram.

typically, you want to use a static IP. make sure the workgroup name matches, then just share the printer as normal. pretty simple.

    Thanks, I'll go that route.
