    Windows 98 password

For the life of me I can't remember where to clear a lost windows 98 "logon" password. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks

ouch...that has to make you a little irritated. sorry, but I have no idea what to do! this is probably uncalled for, and may not work, but try going in on safemode and disabling or resetting all your password info. Im not even sure if you'll be able to get in on safemode...just a thought.. ohya, anyone else replying, don't come on and tell me that won't work...Im just guessing!!

    Brandon,

Thanks for the reply. The machine (a friends) can still get into windows by selecting cancel, but I'd like to get rid of the flippin' thing. I know it's somewhere in the registry, by can't remember where or what to search for.

    Thanks,

    Eric

If you delete all .pwl files then that will delete the password files then when the password prompt comes up again just clear the id out and password so that both are blank and then hit enter. I believe that will stop you from having to enter it. I know of the registry editing one also but I can not remember it right now.

Or go to Control Panel, Network, and change the primary network logon to windows logon. Reboot.

Thanks all, removing the .pwl files took care of it.
