    Internet Explorer won't launch

The Internet Explorer window doesn't come up when I try to launch it through various methods. I try the usual method by double clicking on the Internet Explorer icon from the desktop but nothing happens. The mouse cursors turns to an hour glass for about 5 seconds but goes away and turns back into the regular mouse pointer. I tried launching a website from the Start, Run command but nothing happens. I tried launching it from the Start, Programs menu. I tried launching it from the icon in the taskbar. I reinstalled Internet Explorer but problem continues. I restarted the computer and ran check disk but problem remains. I ran a spyware as well as a virus scan but nothing is found. Internet Explorer does launch as normal in Safe Mode. I'm reluctant to format my hard drive but so far that seems like the only option left. Please let me know if anyone has any other suggestions or fixes for this problem. Thanks.

Run AdAware, SpyBot, and or SpywareBlaster.

    You have been highjacked!

Well I ran both Ad-aware and Spybot. I ran Ad-aware twice because it found several spyware files but none the second time. Spybot didn't find any. I tried to launch the Internet but still nothing happened.

Try running a repair of IE, or upgrade it to IE6 if you haven't done that yet.

Go into add/remove programes and select IE, then remove, then repair.

I ran the HijackThis program and that seemed to resolve the problem. I went ahead and checked all the items that were found and had HijackThis delete them. Thanks a bunch for the fix!
