    Outlook Express and blossoming windows

This is a first time for this... my Outlook Express 6 blossoms "hundreds" of new windows when I click an email address on line or within an email. I have to three finger salute and reboot! Ran my virus prog, trojan hunters etc. but nothing is showing up. I am using W2k Pro/Sp4..this is a fresh install with all updates. Thanks.

Updated all of the MS office apps? - different URL from windows updates. Are you connecting to an "in-house" server, exchange server, 3rd party server? POP3 or IMAP?

This happens just when you click on an email address? no others? When you say this is a fresh install; fresh install of OE6 or the entire "kit and kaboodle"?

Sounds like you have a worm to me - what AV and Trojan hunter proggies did you run? Post a "Hijack This" log if necessary.

    Cheers,
    SJG

When you reinstalled did you load the AV software before going on line? Did you then go immediately to MS update before even checking the lastest news? Last year I got nailed with the blaster worm just after a new install of XP while I was trying to activate the OS with MS and before even setting up my ISP account. It's a zoo out there.

It sounds like a dirty install. Sometimes files just don't copy right. Since it is a clean install it won't be that hard to try again. If it were me and nobody had a better suggestion, I would just bite the bullet and try again. It wouldn't be the first time. Make sure you do a re-partition and re-format first.

I think you are right, on this one. I was thinking the same thing...and the same approach... This re-install was due to a Live Update issue with Norton System Works about a week ago... and of course once that prog goes south, there is nothing but a fresh install for that..NSW issue solved, but now this one.
