System Shock 2..will it play on XP OS?

After reading the great reviews about this shock jock game ..it has piqed my curiousity......

I guess I have missed something( not hard considering I started late in life) ,but this game is said to play on ME and 98 ,and know that with an NTFS system..it probably will not play..unless there is some available patch available.... this would be too bad as I have no intention of using or installing a 98 system right now..although it is not out of the question as I have loaded dual systems in the past....

It will work, you just need to start the game with a particular switch... I don't remember what the switch was though. It IS possible though.

Works fine for me, no additional compatibility settings needed

Thanks guys..some games do work under XP ..even though they say 98 or some other OS...it just depends..but its nice to know so I don't have to order and then lose money and send it back ect....

This must be SOME game.. with five star reviews from most people and the fact that it still commands a good price to buy....holding its own....about $30.00 for the cheapest I could find.

You can download the full game for free from http://www.the-underdogs.org/ abandonware site, it is a ripped version so it is missing things like FMV/Cutscene files i woudl imagine, but that didnt hamper my game playing experience any

Hmmn, thats where i got my version from, free of charge, wonder if they've run into some legal issues or something (afterall, it was availiable for retail at the same tiem they were listing it as abandonware), still, i'm not complaining

I got SS2 for free too, but like Jakk said The Underdog's are having legal problems so that's why it's not listed (I think ).

Well just look at it this way, you pay 10 bucks and get the full version, in my book thats worth the things you miss from the 'ripped' version. btw Rabbit, bigjakka should get the credit, I only did a search on the link he posted, and it brought me to that site. Cudos, and good gaming!
