That's running fairly hot. Did you apply thermal paste on the CPU before attaching the HSF? Did you do a clean install of your OS after the upgrade? Try one stick of RAM and then the other, could be a bad stick of RAM too...
Good luck!

I ordered a Combo from the vendor and paid extra for good thermal paste. So Im sure its there but I did not take it apart
to see. Im stand offish on processor/heatsink installs since I
never tried it. That why I order pre-tested combos.
I used my old pair of ram with the same problem before I
purchase a new set of compatible ram for my system same
problem altho I did not test the ram.
What is the normal temp range for my system? What is my
temp range I need to bring it down to eliminate a temp issue?.
Also Yes with the new Install of MB I formatted and reinstalled
the OS.
Thanks

Are you OC'ing it? If so, set it back to stock speed and see what your temps are. Remove the case and point a house fan at the insides of the case and see if it still crashes...
Good luck!

The video card may be getting hot. Sometimes, the heatsinks on them are not quite seated. Open the case, direct a fan at the opening and run it for awhile.
You should always mention your Windows version. What is it?
-
Hey guys Thanks all for the input,
Im not Overclocking, bios is at default for the most part. Im using Windows XP Pro. The video Card has a heatsink with fan thats
working.
I will try it with the case off when I get home. A fan blowing into the system maybe a bit much I can do even for a test due to a few reasons (Girlfriend). I can invest in a better cooling system and or a Case with more fans if you guys think I should just go for it.
I still need to know what is an acceptable temp range for my Cpu. And also what you suggest as to which Cooling system I can get to cool it down a bit.
Thanks

Anything up to about 55° (no load) is OK.
Don't assume that it is temps. It may be the video drivers you're using. I assume that you didn't just use the MS versions or let Windows Update replace them. You need real nVidia drivers.
TO check for driver issues, go to Control Panel > System > Advanced > Startup and Recovery.
Untick "Automatically restart" and set memory dump to None.
Hopefully, you'll get a blue-screen error with a message next time.

I am using the lastest Nvida Drivers from there site. I will try the Startup and recovery settings. Now I do recall and MS error message about a serious error after it rebooted when I when to read the details it said something about a Minidump?
55 I hope you mean C? But thats about what I get now with no apps running 55-65 I have run some real test and write down what Im getting when Im at the PC right now just going from what I remember.

65°C is too hot for a no-load situation. It sounds like the seller cheaped out on the heatsink. A Vantec Aeroflow is cheap and easy to install if you're interested.
-
I just ordered the Vantec Aeroflow for the AMD so I should see that in a couple of days. I hope I can install it without screwing up something besides I have my old MB & AMD for a quick practice
before I do it on my new stuff.
Altho temps may or may not be my problem from what you folks
are telling me I should be running cooler and I do want to correct
that situation. A co-worker has a P4 system with close specs and
he tells me he getting like 38C!?
Could that be right? do AMD's run hotter than the P4's?
Anyway I will get back with these things to try tonight and will
report my findings.

Yes - the XPs run hotter than P4s do. The Athon 64s don't.

Hey,
I went ahead and got a new case has 4 case fans and 2 on the power supply. Compared to 2 case fans and 1 on PS on my old case Im sure the new one is an improvement.
Here are some quick findings on power up I get 52-56C holds
at about 56 with no programs running. When I load I game it
gets up to about 66C. When I exit the game it goes down to about 60C and stay stable about there.
Have not gone thru playing some games yet to give it a real test but I will. Just wondering how those Temps are? I still got the Airflow Fan & Heatsink on the way.
-
Ok I still get a system reboot while in a game. The CPU was at about 67C at time of reboot. and no blue screen with error just
a reboot, I did turn of the auto restart on failure.
So now I dont know what to think.

It's heat. CPU heat cannot be relieved by case fans. You need a better CPU heatsink/fan.
-
Ok how much cooler can I expect the Airflow unit to cool the cpu? Seems like the cpu is running hotter than normal even
with its stock heatsink & fan.
