SDRam not recognized on MS-5129 Board
I have a p-200 on a Micro star MS-5129 motherboard with the 430VX chip set. The manual says it supports 168 pin SDram, but I need too change the voltage to 3.3 (via jumpers). I removed the 72 pin simms.
I get a blank screen when I start-up the system.
I tried the SDram on a different system. It checks out OK. I tried a different SDram module, it still doesn't work. Any ideas???
Also the 430VX chip set supposedly supports 75 and 83.3 mhz FSB, unofficially (the manual doesn't show the required jumper settings). Does anyone know these settings??
Thanks

Hi! For your dimm socket voltage selectors, it should be this way:
3.3 on-on-off-off or 1-2 1-2 0 0
Yes, you 're right unofficially supports 83 mhz. Its setting is:
Jp5,6, 7
2-3 1-2 1-2
Bank 0 (Simm 1&2) and Dimm2 these two types of Dram modules can not be used at the same time. The speed of all Simms and Dimms have to be faster thn 70 ns.
Hope it helps. Sorry if it looks confusing.

i totally agree w/ guierra...
REMOVE ALL SIMMS FROM THE BOARD simms run a 5.2v or 5.5......can't remember as of now but....since SDRAM DIMMS are lower voltage you must remove the simms for the SDRAM to work....
