FILE OPERATION
On any program when I click on File it brings up a selection box so I can select the file I want to open. On the left side of the box is another box that gives me choices that I have absolutely no concern with. I would like to customize those to directories to meet my needs. Right now they open the My Documents, My Computer etc. I feel safe with the registry and if it can be done easy in there I would appreciate the knowledge.
The 2nd part to this is...There is a command similar to regedit that you can use with the run command to bring up a file to tweak your system. I also would like that information if possible. And it's not msconfig.
Thanks,
Bob

Mod w/ an attitude
What programs are you using?
What OS are you using?
Have you looked in any of the Help files yet?

Question 1: I do not think it is possible to customize the links at the left of the open dialog box unless a software vendor has specifically set up this ability. For example I casn customize this section in AutoCAD but not in word. Someone else may know different but I have never figured it out.
Question 2: Check out TweakUI from Microsoft. You need to right version for your OS. If you use XP, you can get TweakUI from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

It's called the Places Bar...
TweakUI has a built in option to change them.

Forgot
I know there is a program for the run command. I did it in the past. But I lost, crash - right back up, the info.

I have used Tweak UI in the past. I don't wan to get that involved with another program running. But most of what Tweak UI does is controlled by the one file you can use in Run.
Also the first part of my question I figured out. When I navigate to directory, if I right click in the "pane" on the left side of the "Open Dialog Box" it will allow me to add it to favorites or my places. That is what I was looking for.
Being as we are running x64 the least amount of programs we deal with the better off we are.
I am still looking for the run program.
Thanks,
Bob
