winxp and winxp SP1 same?

for some reason there is a huge scratch on my winxp pro cd, so I have to download winxp and burn it, but what im downloading now says Windows XP pro SP1, so will this work the same as the retail one? or is it some update or something

you cannot download windows xp. you must purchase the cd. you are only downloading the windows xp service pack 1.

then you're not getting it from microsoft. the full network version of sp1 is only about 125MB.

Where are you downloading this from? If it's not from microsoft, then it's illegal.

downloading windows xp??? That's just a tad bit illegal. Software piracy aint cool man.

If you are somehow downloading windows xp legally, please post where and how you are obtaining it. I would guess you are using a file sharing program. Is the file name something like "winxp pro THIS IS FO REAL!! FULL VERSION!! PLEASE SHARE!!"
