External case mod :)

A friend of mine here at school gave me an old external SCSI CD-ROM by NEC, circa 1993. I took the actual CD drive out of the thing and set it aside. Inside, I mounted a Bay-Cool hard drive cooler from PC Power and Cooling (Xmas gift '03) and in it I mounted my IBM 36GB SCSI (15k). I removed the old SCSI-2 (10MB/s) connectors from the back of the case, and through one of the holes I've run an internal SCSI ribbon cable, connected to the outer port on my LSI U160 card (card and drive Xmas '02).

So now my old IBM Aptiva (K6-2 450) is booting from a 15k U160 SCSI drive, in an external case with its own cooling and power. Pretty sweet setup, if not a bit on the rag-tag side See pics. The first pic is of the case with a different CD-ROM (the CDR-73 is shown) in it, but similar case all the same (mine's the CDR 74-1).
