    Overclock question

Ok, before I upgrade, I am going to see if my current set up can handle an OC.

    MSI KT3 Ultra2 (MS-6380-e) Motherboard

    AMD 2200+ CPU.

512 MB Crucial Memory, PC 2700

    Radeon 9700PRO

    Soundblaster Live!

    My question is this:
What is the best way to begin with this particular set up? I have overclocked in the past, and am not completely new to it, but this system will not post at above 133 MHZ...

Is there a voltage or setting that I am not thinking of? Or perhaps I just got a CPU that will only do 1800 MHZ....

    Thanks!

I guess I should assume this board does not OC well???

I have come to the conclusion that the 2200+ is NOT an OC friendly CPU.

After reading about AMD and their offerings of the past two years or so, it would seem that the 2200+ was already clocked about as high as AMD could let it be to remain stable. Mine runs hot at stock, with copper heatsink and a nice big fan, so I will probably need to get a new CPU.

Thanks to all that read this, even those that didn't respond lol

Is that Athlon a Palomino core OR a Thorughbred? If it is Palomino then you will not be able to overclock it at all, trust me on that. If it is Thoroughbred, then you may be able too.

    Your right unfortunatley

The original XP2200+ based on the Throughbred A core ran blazingly hot and as such was a pain to get high o/c's out of.

While the Tbred-B version of the XP2200+ did run cooler thansk to a reduced V-Core, i cant think of ever seeing any mega high-o/c#'s out of it like the later Tbred series
