Norton Ghost 2003
Hi guys,
I'm trying to do a backup of my system, using ghost, but about halfway through it bombs out and I get this message.

Either one of your disks has errors or your RAM is bad.
You can check the RAM with this:
www.memtest86.com
As far as checking the disk goes, I can't make a recommendation until you tell us which Windows version you have.

Make sure you run chkdsk /f in DOS mode to fix any errors that might be in your hd. Also, see if you can boot into safe mode and run a thorough scan of the HD to check for bad sectors.

Ah - I see now. It would help if you use proper case when typing. There's a lot of text up there and I was looking for capital letters. I have a real problem with this new informal "MSN chat" writing style...
CHKDSK is correct. In Windows, use CHKDSK X: /F (where X is the drive).
In the Recovery Console, it's CHKDSK X: /R

Thanks Guys,
I'll try those when I get home.
Any other suggestions?

It's 99.99% that you either have a corrupt disk or bad RAM as Bill says. You are unlikely to be successful in Ghosting until you fix the problem. Thee is a swtich that can force Ghost ot ignore most disk problems but not all. I just ran into one with a bad MFT table entry and Ghost could not overcome it.
