    ok...picked my motherboard....

it will be a MSI K7N2 Delta-L, the highest rating i could find on FSB was 400mhz, but someone was talking in one of the other forums it being 800mhz, could this be because of the dual channel ram?

    No, 400 FSB is 200x2. 800 FSB (200x4) is for P4's. That's a nice board. Good luck!

K7 designates an AMD motherboard. AMD motherboards support a "real" FSB of 100, 133, 166 or 200MHz. DDR "doubles" the effective FSB to 200, 266, 333 and 400MHz respectively.

The 800MHz refers to an MSI Pentium 4 motherboard, no doubt.

so, I assume the person was incorrect on the forum he was at and needed to be at a P4 forum?

another question, will this board handle the Athlon 64 processors?

Athlon 64 requires a completely different socket. We are talking about apples and oranges here.

    but for speed.....

in gaming and higher processor applications, if i overclock the Athlon 2600, do you really think i would really need a Athlon 64 processor and board at this time?

Need and Want? No you don't need it. The question is do you want it? It's about $200 cheaper for the XP2600+ so that may be a factor.
