power down and up
Putting together a new system. PcChips M811LU for motherboard with AMD XP1800 processor. Windows Xp Professional. As soon as I turn on the power supply itself, the system powers up. Everything works normally on the system and havent had any problems. But , then when I go to shutdown the comp, it goes into a standby mode with windows closing down but power staying on. The power button in the front has no effect on shutdown or startup. Even removing the power on wires from the the connection on the Motherboard has no effect on startup. As soon as Power Supply is energized it boots up.
I cant find any settings in the bios that can effect it ( unless I'm missing something. Any suggestions ??
Thnaks, Bill

XP power up /down fix found
Well, thanks again for the response Bill.
Finally found a reverse problem discussed in microsoft update area. Discovered that going into Control panel and enabling Advanced Power Management Support would fix the problem to get normal operation.
Thanks Again.
Now I can on to my other System and problems,, Mobo/Processor.

APM fixed it? I considered that for a moment, but blew it off. I'll keep it in mind.
