Question: EDO DIMM vrs SDRAM DIMM

I just have a quick question about RAM. I am looking to upgrade soon and would like to buy an Abit bh6 board, but their page says that the board supports SDRAM. My ram is EDO (I think, it has been a year since I bought it). Can I use EDO Ram in one of these boards, or do I have to buy new RAM again?

You could use EDO if your new board has SIMMs, altho (I've heard/read a reference to using DIMM slot for that but doubt what I read, meaning, use EDO in simms slots). SDRAM is faster and you may only have to use one 32meg card in one DIMM slot. EDO's are in the 60-70 nanosec operation and SDRAM runs at 10nanosec. EDO you have to use in pairs.

That is what I thought. I was lead to believe that DIMMS could be SDRAM or EDO, but I suspected that that was incorrect since I have never seen an EDO DIMM.

    thanks for the info.

EDO DIMMS do exist (but are rare), I have seen them. When I was buying memory, I was surprised to find that the EDO DIMMs were more expensive than SDRAM DIMMs! This was about a year ago.
