System: Sunrace 486 100DX4 Notebook with a ESS866 sound card build in.
Software: Windows for Work Groups and Sound Vision.
Allthough the Notebook is fairly old the sound card was never used. I installed the drivers and software from the stiffies supplied with the notebook and they installed successfully.
The sound card operates properly if the canyon.mid supplied with Windows or the applause.wav supplied with Sound Vision is used.
If any of the other sounds supplied with Sound Vision or Windows are used they are distorted.

I noticed that the applause.wav is an 8 bit recording were as the rest are 16 bit.
Can anyone help me with this problem?"
