Here's good one. Been working on some low end Tiger Direct kits, systems work fine with Weatern Digital 2850 (850 mb)drives in them, but Seagate 32120's (2.1Gb) won't work... unless there is a W/D 2850 in the machine as a slave. Take out the W/D, and the machine gets all kinds of FAT errors and quits. put the W/D drive back in and it will boot off the Seagate pretty as can be. The W/D is a PIO mode 3 drive, the Seagate a PIO mode 4, I've tried forcing the Seagate to PIO 3, but that doesn't help, I've tried turning LBA and Block mode off, 32 bit access off, jumpered it as master, master with non-ata slave, single drive, Ive tried using EZ-Drive. The thing will function perfectly as a master with the W/D as the slave. The W/D will fuction as master, slave or single drive. The Seagates function fine in other machines, alone or in combination. This is happening in every kit I have (5). The kits run great with the W/D 850's but I bought them for the Seagate drives. Any ideas are GREATLY appreciated.
