CMI 8330 6-button joystick driver ?

Does anybody know where I can get joystick or midi port diver for my onboard CMI 8330 sound chip ?
Mobo, joystick and CMI 8330 manufacturers do not answer my e-mails ?...
Any help is welcome.

I believe that PCCHIPS motherboard also uses CMI 8330 sound in their M570 series. You did not tell us which motherboard you have.

I have an M590 mobo but I did not find anything useful on the PCChips site and the people at PCChips, as I already told, do not answer my e-mails...
Well, I think there´s no solution to my problem. With the latest drivers, I can only configure windows to use 4 buttons and in DOS the joy does not work at all.
Should I get a new soundcard ?

PCCHIPS call the CM8330 sound SoundPro HT-1869V+. Here's some links:

Q. Why my joystick can not work fine on game port ( in Win 98)?
A: Because some joystick such as Microsoft Sidewinder Pro joystick using the midi port as the control interface, you need to enable the "MPU-401 MIDI-in functions " through the MPU-401 MIDI Device Setting of SoundPro Audio Rack application, which will let the joystick work fine.


Note 1 : If your CD version is V1.4 or earlier , you need to download the latest Sound driver to ensure the MPU-401 MIDI Device being supported.

I have a PC Arcade Pro (see:

I have already followed the instructions at the PCChips site and at Interact´s too, but they all failed...

I heard that digital joysticks (don´t know exactly what it is, not even if the Arcade Pro is digital or analog) do not work on the midi port of the CMedia chip.

Any other hint to what is happening is welcome.

Too bad, Interact can't provide you with an updated driver. I used an F15E Hawk joystick & a Microsoft game pad. I followed the instructions from PCChips along with the installation of the patch & mini port driver. Both works fine with Windows 98.

How about getting a different sound card. I've used Yamaha and Creative Labs chipsets without problem. (They are inexpensive too)

Also, consider a different joystick or gamepad.

Despite the fact that I like the sound of CMI 8330 (Direct Sound support, etc), I´ll have to buy another sound card or a game card.
Change my joystick ? No way! It´s perfect for MAME and arcade games.

Advice: Never buy these "highly integrated mobos" from Taiwan!!! It´s ****!! I´m fed up of having to search for drivers patches and TSR´s.

It's too bad they do that huh.
They had the first chip on board that had digital in but trying to get the -401 and anything besides a video card on them usually causes conflicts on the "older" boards.
By older I mean even 3 months ago.
They do have another chipset on theeir boards now, but I kind of shied away from them after the first week of beating my head against the wall.
