That thing looks pretty cool.. Completely adjustable is also a nice feature.. I wonder how much better it is than regular top o the line HS though.. and is it worth the $43 price tag...

In the end, this cooler with its four blue LED's on the top can be recommended only for case-modding fans.
As I suspected.. still neat idea I suppose!

it could be they've put a **** blower in there, but it's a shame the performance doesn't stand up to scrutiny, otherwise I woulda had me one o' those beauties! Oh well ...maybe revision 2 will perform better.

The 2 are different tho'! I still think\hope someone will get the design right someday soon!
I bet if you put 2 80mm Vantec stealth fans on that other one, it'll run cool and quiet!

Too bad it's so noisy, it looks like it'd do a great job of cooling. Looked at the other one noted above, hmmm, 2 quiet fans, similar design, if it cools as well, might be worth the 50 bucks.

This cooler first got people's attention in December last year, and early in January of this year:
http://www.vr-zone.com.sg/?i=301&s=1
http://www.ocworkbench.com/2004/giga...PCU21-VG-1.htm
It got rave reviews primarily for noise control and for enhancing the cooling of the CPU environs. I'd want one just to try it out.

That is the same one I posted.
Here's another fancy HSF here It has a red led on the back near the part that looks like a jet exhaust to make it look like it has a flames shooting out of it effect. It also has a white led on the top just above the middle of the fan.

The problem with the gigabyte cooler is that the majority of people now use tower cases, thus the heatpipes are all over the place, rather than the effective up-down orientation.
The whole point of a heatpipe is to have the hot gaseous stuff rise to the top of the pipe and condence into a cooler liquid that runs down the pipe using a thing called gravity (which gigabyte seem unaware of) with the assistance of a wick.
If the pipes are horizontal or even up/down but with the end that gets hot higher than the cold end, you'll get a heat pipe that doesn't function.
The majority of the heat in this cooler is conducted away from the CPU by the copper tube in the heatpipes, not the heatpipes themselves!

Most of the tests have a case temperature analysis, which means the boards are installed in cases for the purpose of testing. I'm willing to bet that most of those cases are towers of one kind or another!

Hooya!
I would love to see more of the other research figures and data.and also, the overall general review as from all consumers or users....
This does look and sound very impresssive....and i would really like the extra light show for. I have the stock Intel....and it works just fine ( nice and cool and quiet )
I just don't know what the advantages would be if a person has one that cools sufficient now already....
There are times mine reads 27 degrees centigrade...very low!
Alot of good coolers on the market now

I got pie!!!
my slk800 keeps my 2500 under 50c at all times, it's just a great hunk of copper. There are limits to what air can cool.

Thats a bit hot for a 2500+ isn't it? I have a 2800+ and use a Volcano 11+ and its very rare that I get over 40C.
The other 12 case fans I have might be of some help though
